Follow the steps below to register for Miss Sylacauga or Miss Sylacauga's Teen.  Be sure to have all documents ready for upload when you start the process as you will not be able to go back to your registration form after it has been submitted.

  • 8x10 black and white headshot / photo on 8-1/2 x 11 copy paper

MISS CONTESTANTS ONLY:  Also include a No-Show Deposit Check of $50 made out to Sylacauga Parks and Recreation.  For those who do compete in the competition, your check will be returned at the end of the competition.  Should you win another Miss Alabama preliminary after applying but before the competition, your check will be mailed back to you.

MISS AND TEEN CONTESTANTS:

MISS AND TEEN CONTESTANTS:  Sign-up online for Miss America Membership.  This is a one-time $39.99 fee for the entire 2024-2025 competition season (July 2024 - February 2025) regardless of the number of preliminaries in which you compete.  If you have ALREADY competed in a preliminary THIS SEASON and paid your membership fee, use THIS link (https://www.club.missamerica.org/bypass-page) to register on Miss America for Miss Sylacauga.  It will bypass the payments page.

TEEN CONTESTANTS ONLY:  Pay non-refundable local registration fee $100.  Payment may be submitted by one of the following methods:  (1) online - click here; (2) mailed or hand delivered to:  Miss Sylacauga, Sylacauga Parks and Recreation, 2 West 8th Street, Sylacauga, AL 35150.  Checks should be made payable to Sylacauga Parks and Recreation.  Please note on the check:  For Miss Syl Teen Registration Fee.

Once you register, you will receive an email with a link to Pageant Planet to set-up your profile for People's Choice voting and tips on soliciting votes.  People's Choice voting will open on September 22.  There will be a People's Choice winner for Miss and Teen and each will receive a scholarship based on proceeds from People's Choice votes (from Little Miss Sylacauga and Little Miss Marble Valley as well as Miss Sylacauga and Miss Sylacauga's Teen).  People's Choice voting will close at midnight on October 4.

Purchase tickets to the event - by clicking here.  There will be a $100 scholarship given to the contestant who sells the most pre-sale tickets.  Online ticket sales close at midnight on October 4.  Ticket purchasers should print the confirmation as proof of purchase to show at the ticket desk at the event.  Tickets are $15 on-line or at the door.

 ORDER YOUR REBEL ATHLETIC WEAR ASAP:  Contestants are expected to wear attire from Rebel Athletic - choosing a top and bottom from the below website.  All outfits will be red.  Please plan accordingly and order well enough in advance to receive by competition day.  If you intend on competing in multiple preliminaries, the good news is that you can order and use the same outfit repeatedly.  Visit Rebel Athletic to order your outfit (must order from the Miss America page/link provided).  When selecting your items and checking out, you must enter the Miss Alabama code: MAOALGB (see Rebel Athletic attachment for instructions.  If you have any issues or concerns about ordering this outfit, please contact Kim Todd at 216.702.0093.  See the below Rebel document for instructions.

​Set-up your Spotfund fundraising site for the American Heart Association.  Each local contestant is required to raise $30 (per preliminary) by the date of the competition.  See the below Spotfund file for instructions.

Important Information - PLEASE READ

REHEARSAL & ARRIVAL TIMES
  • Please follow the day of rehearsal schedule in the Contestant Portal of the website (once you submit all your paperwork, your confirmation page will provide the password to the Candidate Portal). 
  • Upon arrival, check in at the ticket desk at the back entrance of the school.  Turn in the hard copy of your completed Miss Alabama Contract at check-in.
  • Arrival time will be 8:30 AM.  Drop off wardrobe and belongings quicky in the dressing room (which will be in the lunchroom/cafeteria).  Then promptly report for rehearsal in the auditorium.
  • Be prepared to stay until the evening’s pageant is complete.  The show/onstage competition will begin at 5:30 PM.
WARDROBE
(IN ADDITION TO YOUR PERSONAL COMPETITION WARDROBE)
  • Opening Number, all candidates:  Black cocktail dress.  If you do not have one, we encourage you to borrow one.  If you need further assistance, please contact Kim 216.702.0093.
FOOD
  • Lunch, dinner, and light snacks with bottled water will be provided during the day of competition.  If you have dietary restrictions / special diet, you will need to bring your own food / meals that day.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO food or drinks (including water) in the dressing room or on stage.
PARENTS OR GUARDIANS
  • ONLY 1 female is welcome to assist with drop off but are not allowed to stay until returning to cheer on their candidate from the audience.
  • Once the competition is over, ONLY 1 female is allowed in the dressing room to assist with departure.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER CROWNING
  • Official and media photos will be taken – ALL CANDIDATES TO REMAIN ON STAGE AFTER CROWNING.  No one not affiliated with the competition is allowed on stage immediately after crowing.  We ask that spectators do not interfere during the taking of official photos as these need to be taken as quickly as possible.  There will be a photo station set up in the lobby where you are welcome to take additional personal photos.
  • For those selected as Miss Sylacauga and Miss Sylacauga’s Teen along with parents/guardians, you will have a meeting which will include signing official Miss Alabama / Miss Alabama's Teen paperwork and other documentation.  This meeting will take place in the library.
